Jonathon “Jono” Shannon is an advertising creative director, screenwriter, and internationally published author.

He’s been recognised at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, The One Club for Creativity, The Effie Awards, Tropfest Short Film Festival, and the Academy Awards® qualifying St Kilda Film Festival – and one of his ideas is even permanently housed in the archives of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

In his commercial work, Jonathon believes that you can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created it. This belief has seen him provide some of the world’s biggest brands with the radically-different thinking they’re missing from their organisations – turning contactless payments into a national sport for Mastercard, creating a personal unit of velocity for Audi, distilling travel memories into fragrance for Cathay Pacific, opening the world’s first Reddit bank for Ally Financial, un-staging The Australian Ballet, transforming brainwaves into ocean waves for Blackmores, and helping to establish tertiary education’s first sexual consent subject with Charles Sturt University.

Jonathon’s debut novel Bound to Happen, a subversive rom-com about the fatalism of love and an incomplete understanding of string theory, was published in Australia and New Zealand by Ultimo Press in 2023. His screenwriting credits include The Last Fight, an internationally-awarded short film focusing on mental illness, martial arts, and modern masculinity.
